Winter of the World, Book 2, by Ken Follett

The second book of this excellent WWII novel, and continues the story of the Dewar, Peshkov, Fitzherbert, and Von Ulrich families. Even though I’ve been with these characters through two novels now, the sheer number of characters still causes me to go back and research who did what. So, it’s a bit tedious, kind of like trying to follow all the characters in Game of Thrones.

But, the characters and their interactions are just so fascinating, it’s easy to get involved with the situation and forget about what they did ten years ago, or how ever many it actually was. The ongoing interactions with real events of the war, the battles, the Nazis, Hitler, and Stalin, also makes everything almost convince you that these families actually existed. It’s a great read.
