The Secrets She Keeps, by Michael Robotham

Agatha is childless. But, she’s a mother to several babies. What’s wrong with this picture? Nothing, as far as Agatha is concerned–she has babies vicariously. Even to the point of faking pregnancy and fooling coworkers, her mom, and her husband.

How she pulls this off is amazing to listen to. And it takes a while to build up to the meat of the story, but once the story solidifies, it gets even more complicated, and one of Agatha’s victims unwittingly deepens her own fall into a living hell.

This is a really good book to listen to on a long trip with your spouse, as it has many elements to draw the attention of both a mother and a husband–it’s got the nurturing angle, the mystery to solve, and the intensity and curiosity of the outcome.
