The Future of Humanity, by Michio Kaku

I haven’t read the book yet, but Kayela and I went to his book signing in DC last night. In addition to giving us a preview of where humanity is headed, it turns out that Kaku is a very good speaker. He never faltered, never paused (except dramatically), and threw in a good bit of humor. Especially at the end, when a young student asked him if he “made it all up.” Which, he admitted, he did, to a certain extent. His projections were made from interviewing 300 scientists. But, it still got a good laugh.

The event was held at the Sixth and I Synagogue in Washington, D.C., so it was a pretty good hike from Richmond. We left Richmond at  3 pm, took the Metro in from the Springfield station, and then had just a short two block walk to the synagogue. Dinner at Panera across the street from the Gallery Metro Station, and home by midnight.

Some of his best lines:

“Is there intelligent life on Earth?”

“The worst destroyer of young scientific minds is Junior High.”

“I made it all up.”
