Aunt Lala visits, May 23, 2009

Why Baltimore? Linda flew into Baltimore–I had assumed that I’d be working in DC, so it would be a short trip. Surprise, my contract didn’t get extended, and I was in Richmond, unemployed. It worked out okay though, because I didn’t have to ask for any days off. Trish drove up from Greensboro too, so we had us a little reunion. We headed over to…

Puerto Vallarta, Sep. 20, 2008–with the Piphers

Arrival Bill and  Deanne, and Eddie and Jeanne met us in Puerto Vallarta on Sept. 20. We stayed at the PV Condo, Conchas Chinas. The customs line was horrendous–took about a half hour just to get through that. Deanne andJeanne zipped right through, and also arrived about an hour before we did. We caught a van to the condo for $45, just the 6 of…

Idina Menzel, 2008

Idina is a broadway star turned solo singer. She was the good witch in the Broadway Play “Wicked,”, and was one of the start of “Rent.” She appeared at The National in July of 2008. Kayela had never heard of her, but is now a fan after hearing Idina sing.

Las Vegas, 2007

Flew nonstop from Dulles, 1:05 pm. Stayed at Tropicana. Rented a car f/Alamo, picked up Bill and Deanne at the airport after midnight. Came back to hotel and hung out in the hot tub until about 3 am. Hot tubs open 24×7. Went to see 2 shows, Caveman (standup comedian, loooook at me), and The Producers, with Tony Danza. Ate prime rib one night downtown,…

Oklahoma City–Dec. 17, 2008, OU vs. Texas Tech

El Jefe (my brother-in-law, Bill Pipher) got four tickets to the OU-Texas Tech game, and very kindly invited Terry and me to join him. Tyler, Bill’s son, also joined us..Tech was rated #2, and OU #4. Our seats were incredible–on the front row, 30 yard line. OU wins 61-21. A long touchdown pass play happened right in front of us. Froze to death in the…

Korean experience–Woo Mi Garden

I went with my landlady, Monyra, and one of her Vietnamese friends, Winnie. The atmosphere is very appealing, they cook the food at your table, and they’re very friendly. Loved it, especially the bulgogi. Except for the waitress spilling hot tea in my lap, it was perfect. The dinner prices are a little high, but I think the personal touch (no, not the tea in…

Spring Break 2009

Megan couldn’t go this year, and in addition, we decided to visit Baltimore, as well as DC. So, Kayela, Jordan, Mason, John, and Ethan (John’s friend) came up on Amtrak Wed. night. I met them via the Metro, and we stayed at my rental bedroom for the first two nights.

Spring Break, 2005

Spring Break with the Grandkids in DC 2005 We spent most of our time at the Museum of Natural History. They were just old enough (Megan was 11), to maybe remember those big bones.

Spain, 1999

The picture on the left is a good summary of our trip to Spain–the flowers overflowing the walls of our condo accentuate the beauty of this country; the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the El Tajo Gorge, the flamenco dancers, the White Cities, and the Matador culture, just to name a few. Kayela and I went with a good friend of ours from Oklahoma, Melva. She met…
